This year’s internship came to a close last Friday at our final presentations event! It was so exciting to host our first in person internship celebration since 2019, and we had a great turnout with over 30 people present! Each intern took the stage to present about their projects and field questions. They all did a great job educating the audience on their findings and sharing their new knowledge with the community. We’re so proud of everything they accomplished this summer!

Mya telling the crowd about artificial seal haulouts
Seactis explaining how lure size affects catch of salmon
Nelson describing the best measurement method for green crabs
Aunjraya sharing her knowledge on olive snail size-specific gathering

Once they had all presented their talks, they went to stand by their beautiful posters and answer more questions from friends, family, coworkers, and elders. We put up the posters from last year’s interns as well, as they weren’t able to celebrate their accomplishments amid last summer’s covid outbreak. Each poster can be seen on the “Research Projects” tab of the website. Go take a look!

A special shoutout to Aunjraya, who presented her poster on her 18th birthday! Happy birthday Aunjraya!

This year’s interns were a great group of goofy energy, big personalities, and fast learners. We had a wonderful time hanging out with them, and we wish them the best moving forward. Good luck!
